The Grow Package

The Grow package expands on the Build package and offers you peace of mind when it comes to updating your WordPress website, theme, and plugins. 

In addition to everything in the Start and Build package, the Grow package includes a managed WordPress platform where we will update up to 10 plugins, your WordPress installation, and your theme. In other words you get the SDJ Tech team taking care of your WordPress installation, plugins and theme. We keep a close eye on your business platform so you can turn your attention to your content!!

An important element you need to maintain is the WordPress core of your website, as well as any plugins that you use.

Keeping both the core and additional plugins up to date is essential to keeping your site secure – and allows you to take advantage of the newest features! If you don’t maintain your WordPress site, it will likely become slow and full of errors. This makes it an easy target for hackers.

In addition, you may find that after an update you discover some of your website’s features have been broken (some plug-ins just simply do not play nicely with each other!) This makes it essential to thoroughly check your website after each and every update – both for your WordPress core and your selection of plugins.

SSD stands for solid-state drive, a type of PC storage that’s faster than a hard drive. An SSD is able to read and write data much faster than a mechanical hard drive. Disk space refers to the amount of storage space SDJ Hosting allocates to a website and all associated files on a server. It’s the same as disk space on your computer’s hard drive. On average, the typical client uses approximately 1GB of data for a single WordPress installation.

50GB bandwidth / month
Bandwidth refers to the maximum amount of data transmitted over an internet connection in a given amount of time. 90% of websites currently use no more than 5 GB of bandwidth a month.

10 Email Accounts
You can set up as many as 10 email accounts using your domain name. Example: kris@sdjhosting.com. Please note: there is a 50 emails sent per hour limit.

Some Things to Consider When Looking For Hosting

Time – this is the most important and least considered factor. Your own time! People always assume if you do it yourself its basically free, but it isn’t. Especially since making even a very simple website by yourself typically involves spending a few days on it. A good rule of thumb is to decide whether you have more time or more money (most businesses have more money than time).

Jumping on the cheapest offer you see isn’t necessarily the best idea, especially if you rely on your site to make money. Things like non-outsourced support and quality hardware cost money, and a hosting company that charges $1.99 per month likely won’t offer these features. Take a closer look at the features that each host provides, and THEN compare prices.

If you’re satisfied with the price of your current package, check the price for renewals. It’s a norm in the industry to offer low signup prices, but charge much higher amounts on renewals. Unless you are ok with switching between hosts every few years, renewal price increases are unavoidable.

If you want to launch your first WordPress website on a brand new domain name, here is one guideline we have learned the hard way from experience: Get the domain and hosting from the same company. However, if you want to launch more than one website, or you’re planning to expand your portfolio rather quickly: Get the domains and hosting from separate companies. We have found it is advantageous to have two companies if you have multiple sites: All of your domains from one, and all of your hosting from the other. This gives you more room to move around and adjust your setup in case your goals change or anything happens.

Even if you don’t plan to sell things directly from your site, you’ll still want to secure your site with this necessary HTTPS protocol.

Look into a company’s specialty or area of expertise before you buy … and go with one that understands your particular needs as a customer.
